MARINE NEWS MARCH, 2023 – Submitted by Joe ConwaySummarySpring is just about upon us! Soon you will be thinking about launching your craft and the fun ahead. There are a few pre-season tips and important information to share.
- All boaters born after January 1, 1978 are required to have completed a Delaware Safe Boating Course and to carry the Certification Card when operating a motorized boat. Courses available:
- Delaware on-line courses (www.boat-ed.com) & (www.boaterexam.com)
- BoatUS on-line course (https://courses.boatus.org/) Free
- Now is a good time to inventory your safety equipment against USCG regulations. Required items for your watercraft can be found at www.uscgboating.org.
- Headquartered in South Bethany is the USCG Auxiliary a.k.a. South Bethany Flotilla 12-1. The District Commander will be at the SBPOA Summer Kickoff Party on Saturday, June 10. There will be a sign-up sheet for complimentary boat inspections and a sign-up sheet to take a Boat Safety Course for an operator's license. There will be a variety of informational materials on boating in Delaware and FREE WHISTLES for those using paddelboards or kayaks when on the water.
